Overview

Bunbury and Busselton Community Supported Residential Units

Located just a few minutes’ walk from the picturesque Busselton foreshore and in Carey Park, theBunbury and Busselton Community Supported Residential Units (CSRU) provide a safe and supportive environment for people to live in whilst participating in a program designed to assist individuals in their personal journey towards mental health recovery.  

The service is staffed 24/7 and provides supported accommodation up to 12 – 24 months set in a homelike environment that supports people on their recovery journey.  

With a trauma informed, person-centred and recovery-based approach, Bunbury and Busselton CSRU supports residents to develop and reach individual goals, work towards independent living skills, make informed choices, develop social skills, connect with family and community, clinical and non-clinical supports.  

A tailored approach to meeting individual needs sees consumers work closely with their onsite Mental Health Recovery Practitioner and Recovery Support Workers and connecting to external agencies to achieve their recovery goals where required.

Eligibility and service entry criteria

  • Aged 18-64 years of age.
  • Formal diagnosis of mental health disorder (must be the primary concern).
  • Must be willing to actively participate in their recovery journey.
  • Suitable for individuals requiring 2-4 hours of support per day.
  • Potential residents will ideally have existing supports, either formal or informal, in the south-west region of Western Australia.
  • As the unit is shared with others, individuals need to be fairly independent in respect to independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, daily activities, and have a good understanding with respect to their mental health, including coping strategies and awareness of triggers.
  • Please note that Busselton and Bunbury Community Supported Residential Units provide support for adults, and are unable to provide accommodation for children, couples, families, or pets at this time.

Rates

Current rent per fortnight:

  • Busselton Disability Support Pension (DSP) > 21 years: $605
  • Bunbury Disability Support Pension (DSP) > 21 years: $580
  • Disability Support Pension (DSP) < 21 years: $465
  • JobSeeker: $480
  • Youth Allowance (Inc. Youth Disability Support): $490
  • Youth Allowance (Exc. Youth Disability Support): $440
  • Austudy: $440

Additional fees:

  • Single bedroom unit: $20 per fortnight
  • Two bedroom unit: $10 per fortnight

Resident rents are subject to review in April each year.

How to apply

  • Complete the referral form

    This can be completed by anybody – yourself, a family member, a carer, a case manager, mental health service provider, social services or other health provider you are linked in with.

  • Talk with a Case Manager

    Upon receiving your Residential Referral Form, Richmind WA will contact you or your referring case manager to advise you if we are able to progress with your referral, or to seek further information. If your referral meets our eligibility criteria, your referral will then be put forward to the suitable program or site manager.

  • Accommodation staff interview

    Staff at the referred service may arrange an interview with you and speak with other stakeholders to assess your suitability. Where preference is indicated for a particular program, we will try to meet the request.

To apply for this service, we require the below referral form to be downloaded, filled out and submitted to our Intake team.

Our team will then send you the relevant form and other information to help you through this referral process.
